Job Description
Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely processing of the Company's bi-weekly payroll in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and legislative compliance requirements.
- Develop and implement short-term and long-term payroll strategies, including implementing solutions that will make our payroll process more efficient.
- Partner cross functionally, including HR, Compensation, Legal, and Finance to provide payroll-related advice to support the Company's initiatives.
- Process equity-related payroll transactions. Work closely with the equity team to ensure that weekly reconciliations of Share Network (Equity system) and Workday for Payroll are performed and that reconciling items are resolved on a timely basis not to exceed 2 weeks.
- Manage statutory tax withholding requirements and ensure that all payroll taxes are calculated and paid on time. Review all payroll reporting and provide accurate and timely filing with appropriate government authorities.
- Establish procedures, ensure that all payroll-related journal entries are accurate, and review reconciliations. Document and update the payroll procedures and support external financial audit.
- Research and understand the applicability of a new rule, tax code, or relevant legislation pertaining to payroll or stock option programs.
- You will help prepare, process and reconcile all stock transactions for timely and accurate tax remittances and earnings reporting
- Work with the Finance G/L team to design and operate an effective payroll accounting and reconciliation process. You will strive for continuous improvement using tools to minimize exceptions
- Work on audit and compliance activity including the quarterly and annual financial statement audits, internal audit team requests, requests from federal, state, and local tax authorities, worker's compensation audits, and other external data and reporting requests
- You will help project manage M&A Activities including documenting and completing all historical company records
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience working in the field of payroll operations
- 3+ years of management experience
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is highly preferred
- Experience with payroll processing in Workday and equity processing in Shareworks
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet time sensitive deadlines
- Expert knowledge of multi-state payroll, payroll tax rules, and regulations in the U.S.
- Experience with various equity compensation instruments and plans, including stock options, RSUs, PSUs, and ESPPs, is preferred.

The expected salary range for this role to be performed in San Francisco is USD $162,000 - USD $226,000. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for participation in Twitter’s Performance Bonus Plan and Equity Incentive Plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
